From the financial year 2007/8 to the present day The Friends of Armidale lLbrary have raised a total of $51,358. All these monies have been raised by the committee from our local communities and spent which have been spent on Library resources as follows.
A brief history:
1) During 2012 we began helping with funding the Raising Literacy – Baby Books program, an initiative of the NSW State Library. Our contribution to this initiative has increased greatly over the last 8 years from $1,000 to stand at $13,605.
2) From 2014 we have also purchased physical resources for the library including
• book Trolleys,
• library Shelving
• seating of various kinds
• meeting room tables
• contribution to the dragon mural in the Children’s area.
• an art hanging system to help make the library more attractive
3) We have purchased a number of electronic resources for the physical structure of the library including
• a Large Screen/Projection system to allow on line meetings and learning opportunity and to show events such as the Sydney Writers Festival, the Symphony orchestra and films
• an E magazine system to allow the library to access magazines
4) We have a special interest in supporting people who are visually challenged and to this end have provided
• large print books
• audio books
•“Daisy wheels” to make audio books more accessible to readers
5) We have run competitions eg. 6 words competition and held events
